A support engineer is an individual whose job is to provide technical support to customers of the organization or to the employees of the organization in which he works. They receive customer support request and then have to classify the issue, diagnose the problem and work with the concerned team.
They also have to provide onsite installations and develop customer facing documentation. The actual job responsibility of a support engineer varies from one industry type to another.
